Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is seeking a Senior Research and Evaluation Officer to lead the design, delivery and reporting of NMBA evaluation projects. The role sits in the Research, Evaluations and Insights Team (REIT) within the Health Workforce Directorate and supports regulatory decision-making through mixed-methods research.

Job description

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with the 15 National Boards to implement the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (the National Scheme) for health practitioners. Our role is to protect the public by ensuring that only practitioners who are suitably qualified and fit to practise safely are registered.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Research and Evaluation Officer to join our Research, Evaluations and Insights Team (REIT) within the Health Workforce Directorate.

This is a 12-month fixed-term, part-time opportunity (0.6 FTE) that can be based in any Ahpra office location

As part of their role, the Senior Research and Evaluation Officer will lead the design, delivery and reporting of three priority evaluation projects for the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Working closely with the Nursing and Midwifery Policy Team, you will play a key role in generating high-quality evidence to support regulatory decision-making and improve outcomes for the nursing and midwifery workforce.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your research and evaluation expertise to projects of national significance. You will design and deliver mixed-methods evaluations, analyse qualitative and quantitative data, and communicate findings to a broad range of stakeholders through reports, presentations, publications and other knowledge translation activities.

About you

• A Master’s degree or higher qualification in health, public health, social science, evaluation, public policy or a related field
• Demonstrated experience leading research and evaluation projects from design through to delivery
• Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, including experience using statistical analysis packages such as SPSS, Stata, R or similar
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings to diverse audiences
• Strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
• A collaborative approach, sound judgement and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
• Experience working with the nursing and midwifery workforce and data visualisation tools would be highly regarded but is not essential
