Job summary

UNSW invites applications for the Senior Reporting Analyst within the Division of Research and Enterprise. You will transform complex research data into insights, leading analytics, reporting and data solutions across publications, funding, HDR, grants, contracts, ethics and compliance.

Working with stakeholders across UNSW, you will enhance data quality and reporting, employing tools such as SQL, Excel and Power BI to inform decision-making and improve research outcomes.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence.
• Experience in higher education or similar large organisation with research administration
• Extensive data analysis, modelling and reporting experience with Excel, PostgreSQL/SQL and Power BI
• Ability to translate complex stakeholder and business requirements into analytical solutions

Why this role?

As the Senior Reporting Analyst, you will play a key role within the Division of Research and Enterprise, delivering high-level analytical, reporting and technical services to support research administration across areas including research and scholarship funding, Higher Degree Research (HDR), grants and contracts, and ethics and compliance. The role provides high-level expertise in data analysis, modelling and reporting, including the analysis and interpretation of complex data, development of robust reporting and analytical solutions, and delivery of actionable insights to support operational, strategic and evidence-based decision-making.

Who you are

• Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or equivalent competence gained through a combination of education, training and experience.
• Demonstrated experience within higher education or a similarly large and complex organisation, with a strong understanding of research administration, research data and associated reporting requirements.
• Extensive experience in data analysis, modelling, problem-solving and reporting, using a range of tools and technologies such as Excel, PostgreSQL/SQL and Power BI, with demonstrated ability to translate complex stakeholder, business and strategic requirements into effective analytical and reporting solutions.
• Demonstrated experience in analysing and interpreting complex datasets, identifying trends and insights, and communicating findings and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and coordination, with the ability to plan and manage reporting, analytics or data-related initiatives, coordinate stakeholders and dependencies, and deliver agreed outcomes within competing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple concurrent activities and competing deadlines, and consistently deliver accurate and high-quality outcomes.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and communicate complex technical and analytical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
