Carbonix is a leading Australian manufacturer and operator of long-range RPAS platforms for enterprise and government customers. We specialise in BVLOS operations, delivering advanced aerial survey and inspection services.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Remote (Drone/UAV) Pilot to join our operations team. This role requires technical depth, operational discipline, and strong experience in BVLOS missions with complex RPAS platforms. The Senior Remote Pilot will also support the Chief Remote Pilot (CRP) by undertaking delegated tasks related to safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct EVLOS and BVLOS operations with Carbonix RPAS platforms
  • Lead mission planning, risk assessments, and execution of long-range survey operations.
  • Support the CRP with delegated responsibilities, including safety assessments, safety system management, and operational compliance oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with CASA regulations, company ReOC conditions, and safety management systems.
  • Contribute to the development and drafting of BVLOS SORA applications and operational safety cases.
  • Mentor junior pilots and contribute to standard operating procedures and training material.
  • Liaise with engineering teams on systems integration, testing, and performance feedback.
  • Travel across Australia for flight operations and client projects, with occasional overseas assignments if required.
  • CASA RePL with Powered Lift category endorsement (sub-25kg).
  • Minimum 150 hours total RPA experience, 20+ hours in EVLOS/BVLOS and powered-lift.
  • Demonstrated experience with EVLOS/BVLOS operations, including OCTA BVLOS.
  • Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC).
  • Proficiency in mission planning software, GIS tools, and computer-based workflows.
  • Strong operational discipline with proven ability in risk-based assessments.
  • Willingness to travel for work.
  • Must hold valid cars driver’s licence.
  • Must hold valid working rights in Australia.
Highly Desirable
  • 100+ hours powered-lift or fixed wing flight experience, including extensive BVLOS operations.
  • Experience with medium-category powered-lift system (sub-150kg) is highly desirable
  • Experience contributing to or drafting BVLOS SORA applications.
  • Familiarity with Ardupilot or similar autopilot systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in LiDAR and photogrammetry survey planning and operations.
  • Current or past crewed aviation licence (fixed wing).
