Job summary

Hitachi Rail STS Australia Pty Ltd in Brisbane seeks a Senior Testing & Commissioning Engineer (ETCS L2) to drive testing, integration and validation of signalling systems across on-board and trackside networks. You will manage test plans, execute lab and field tests, and ensure safety standards are met.

The role requires 5–10 years’ rail experience, a degree in electrical engineering, and familiarity with test software such as Wireshark.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field.
• 5–10 years’ experience in Rail or similar industry with demonstrated capability in safety systems and testing.
• IRSE Electronic Systems Tester License or Electrical Trade qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participate in testing, commissioning and integration of signalling systems (on‑board, trackside, communications, control).
• Perform factory and site testing as required.
• Support test plans, procedures and reports at project level.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project documentation and testing processes.
• Load and verify software configurations; assist lab and field integration activities.
• Ensure site test execution plans are executable in target environments.
• Attend progress meetings and uphold Health & Safety requirements.
