Job summary

BG&E, now part of the SYSTRA Group, is seeking a Senior Rail Engineer to lead design packages and on-site CSR activities for Australian rail projects. You will mentor engineers, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and ensure delivery across multi-disciplinary rail initiatives.

The role requires 7+ years in civil/rail engineering, site representation, and strong knowledge of rail standards. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and CPEng are preferred, with a hybrid workplace arrangement.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of civil/rail engineering experience delivering Australian rail projects.
• Site representation and construction phase support expertise.
• In-depth knowledge of rail standards (TfNSW/ASA, ARTCS, V/Line, QR).
• Strong communication skills to negotiate between design offices and site teams.
• Bachelor of Civil Engineering or relevant degree and CPEng certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead track engineering design packages from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
• Act as CSR on-site engineering reference point to inspect works and resolve issues.
• Drive stakeholder engagement with rail authorities, contractors, and client delivery teams.
• Perform constructability reviews and safety-in-design assessments and quality audits.
• Mentor and develop intermediate and graduate engineers within the rail team.

At BG&E, we empower our people to lead technical excellence and solve challenging engineering problems. We are looking for a Senior Rail Engineer with strong CSR experience to lead project packages, mentor team members, and drive delivery across landmark rail initiatives.

Missions/Main Duties

As a Senior Rail Engineer, you will lead the technical design and site support for multi-disciplinary rail infrastructure projects. Leveraging your CSR expertise, you will ensure high quality standards on-site, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and guide junior engineers through technical design and construction interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead track engineering design packages from concept through to detailed design and construction support.

• Perform CSR responsibilities, acting as the primary engineering reference point on-site to inspect works, manage design variations, and resolve technical issues.

• Drive stakeholder engagement with rail authorities, contractors, client delivery teams, and third parties.

• Conduct constructability reviews, safety-in-design assessments, and quality audits.

• Mentor and develop intermediate and graduate engineers within the rail team.

Profile/Skills

What You’ll Bring

• 7+ years of civil/rail engineering experience, with a proven track record delivering Australian rail projects.

• Solid background in site representation, construction phase support, and interface management on live rail corridors.

• In-depth knowledge of rail standards (e.g., TfNSW/ASA, ARTCS, V/Line, or QR standards) and rail delivery frameworks.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to negotiate outcomes between design offices and site teams.
