Job summary

Strike 1 Recruitment is seeking a Senior Public Practice Accountant in Australia to manage a diverse client portfolio and deliver high-level accounting and taxation services. You will work with senior staff and mentor junior accountants, processing financial statements, tax returns, and advisory projects while ensuring compliance with Australian taxation legislation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline.
• CA/CPA qualification or working towards.
• Experience in public practice accounting.
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and compliance.
• Experience preparing financial statements, tax returns and management reports.
• Analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Strong client relationship and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, APS, HandiSoft or similar.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of business and individual clients.
• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns and compliance reports.
• Provide taxation advice and business advisory services.
• Complete complex accounting tasks including reconciliations, reporting and financial analysis.
• Assist clients with business structures, planning and financial decision-making.
• Review work prepared by junior accountants and mentor.
• Liaise with clients, ATO representatives and other advisors.
• Identify opportunities to improve client outcomes and accounting processes.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation legislation and professional requirements.
• Assist with workflow management and continuous improvement initiatives.
