MB Partners, based in the Hawkesbury region near Sydney, seeks a Senior Accountant to lead a diverse SME client portfolio and mentor team members while driving client experience and internal improvements.

This role offers autonomy within a collaborative, supportive team and a clear pathway to senior leadership over time.

Competenze

• Minimum 6 years' experience in public practice
• IPA, CA or CPA qualified (TPB registration will be highly regarded also)
• Sound technical knowledge across tax and accounting standards
• Excellent communication and relationship-management skills
• Proactive, reliable, and able to balance autonomy with teamwork
• Australian work authorisation required for this position

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Senior Accountant who's ready to step into a key role within our growing practice. This is more than just a job— it's an opportunity to shape the future of MB Partners. You’ll manage a diverse client portfolio, mentor team members, and play an active role in driving client experience and internal improvements.

This position offers the freedom to work autonomously while being part of a collaborative, supportive team.

For the right person, there’s clear scope to develop into a senior leadership position over time.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage and review accounting, tax and compliance work for a broad SME, trust and individual client base
2. Provide value-added insights — tax planning, structuring and business improvement advice
3. Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and practical solutions
4. Review and support work of intermediate and junior staff
5. Identify workflow efficiencies and contribute to practice-wide process improvement
6. Play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the practice, contributing to growth initiatives and client acquisition strategies.

About You

We're looking for someone who not only has the technical expertise but also the drive, vision, and leadership qualities to grow with the practice and take on a senior leadership role. You will have;

1. Minimum 6 years' experience in public practice
2. Experience may be calculated from either qualification date or total accounting experience
3. IPA, CA or CPA qualified (TPB registration will be highly regarded also)
4. Sound technical knowledge across tax and accounting standards
5. Excellent communication and relationship-management skills
6. Proactive, reliable, and able to balance autonomy with teamwork
7. Proficient using Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks and ACCESS Handisoft an advantage
8. Australian work authorisation required for this position
