Job summary

Victoria Police is seeking a Senior Advocate in the Legal Services division, based in Melbourne. The role supports the Prosecutions Branch Advocacy Unit and offers exposure to in-court advocacy across criminal matters, with travel to Magistrate's Courts statewide as required.

The successful candidate will bring proven advocacy in criminal law, strong written and oral advice, and the ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• In-court advocacy experience in criminal law, youth-justice, or complex matters is preferred.
• Admission to practice as an Australian lawyer with an unrestricted practising certificate is required.
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Appear on behalf of Victoria Police in Criminal and Family Violence Magistrate's Court matters across the State.
• Coordinate and manage prosecutions, including preparation and oversight of court matters and instructing counsel as needed.
• Coordinate and case manage criminal prosecutions as required.
