Job summary

You Want Group in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Senior Associate – Property & Development to join its growing commercial law practice. You will independently manage complex property matters, mentor junior lawyers and collaborate with the Principal across high-value developments, acquisitions and leasing, with transactions often exceeding $10 million up to about $150 million.

This role offers autonomy, client exposure and a clear path to senior leadership from Melbourne CBD.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' post-qualification experience (PQE) with substantial experience in Commercial Property Law.
• Ability to independently manage complex property and development transactions from commencement to completion.
• Strong technical experience across acquisitions, disposals, leasing, due diligence and development structures.
• Proven ability to supervise, mentor junior lawyers and paralegals.
• Experience with interstate property transactions is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a diverse portfolio of commercial property and development transactions from instruction to completion.
• Advise developers, investors and private clients on property transactions, development projects and risk.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts of sale, leases and other development documentation.
• Lead due diligence and coordinate with financiers, accountants and external advisers.
• Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to building client relationships.
