This position sits at the intersection of health and urban planning, working to shape healthier built environments across South Western Sydney. It’s an opportunity to influence long-term population health outcomes by embedding health considerations into planning, policy, and development projects.
The position is with the Healthy Places team within the Collaboration Unit, Population Health SWSLHD. The role works closely with local councils, NSW Government agencies, developers, community organisations, and internal SWSLHD teams. Collaboration is central, requiring cross‑sector partnerships to ensure health is a priority in planning and development decisions. The position also contributes to District and Population Health strategic project and business priorities.
The Senior Project Officer - Health Places contributes to healthy urban development and environments projects and strategies, supports business processes in Population Health with a focus on healthy places and relationships with local government, and contributes to district and population health strategic priority projects and business priorities of the Collaboration Unit.
SWSLHD Population Health aims to protect and promote the health of the local population, reduce health inequalities, and achieve optimal health and wellbeing for all residents of South Western Sydney. Services include prevention, early intervention, and health promotion programs designed to help individuals and families adopt healthy behaviours and avoid illness. The team partners with the community to create health-promoting physical and social environments, ensuring accessible, fair, and culturally appropriate services.
