Job summary

Queensland Department of Education in Cairns is seeking a Senior Project Officer for the Far North Queensland Region. Based in the Cairns office, you will support the Student, Child and Family Connect team to improve student engagement and deliver project outcomes.

You will manage planning, analysis, and governance activities, prepare briefings for the Minister and Directors, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and promote program activities within budget timelines.

Responsibilities

• Undertake project planning, analysis, integrate project activities and evaluate the impact of projects and initiatives.
• Develop, implement and monitor project services in consultation with stakeholders to ensure identified needs are met.
• Assist in coordinating the development and implementation of policies, practices and procedures.
• Assist in coordinating, organising and promoting the activities identified within the program
• Provide project advice, information and status, including preparation of correspondence, policy responses, speeches, articles, media releases and briefings for the Minister, Director-General and Regional Director and/or Principal.
• Provide secretariat support for project governance groups to ensure effective implementation of project objectives within the established timeframes and allocated budget.
• Build the capability of colleagues, internal and external stakeholders through supporting networks and/or communities of practice as required.
• Proactively build and maintain positive relationships, including consultation, negotiation and communication with internal and external clients, networks, stakeholders and service providers.
