State Government of Victoria is seeking a Senior Project Officer to lead the development and delivery of professional learning for teachers and school leaders. You will work across the Academy with internal teams and external providers to ensure high-quality outcomes aligned to strategic objectives.

The role supports the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership, with two ongoing positions commencing 1 January 2027.

Qualifications

Are you passionate about leading the development and implementation of professional learning programs for teachers and school leaders? The Senior Project Officer, Teaching and Leadership Excellence Division leads the end-to-end development and implementation of the Academy’s leadership and teaching excellence professional learning programs, ensuring they meet participant and sector needs. The role works with teams from across the Academy and with external providers to deliver high-quality outcomes that meet organisational objectives.

2x Ongoing positions commencing 1 January 2027.

About the Division

The Teaching and Leadership Excellence Division leads and delivers a comprehensive portfolio of evidence-informed high-quality professional learning for teachers and school leaders across the government, Catholic and independent sectors. It enables excellence inteaching andleadership,including in literacy and mathematics,and student learning and wellbeingoutcomes, and builds leadership capability at all career stages, from emerging leaders to system leaders.

Programs are grounded in high-quality professional learning principles and aligned to either the Academy Leadership Excellence Framework and/or the Academy Teaching Excellence Model, supporting educators to translate evidence into practice, lead improvement, and drive sustained impact in their context.

About the Role

The role works with teams from across the Academy and with external providers to deliver high-quality outcomes that meet organisational objectives.

The responsibilities of the Senior Project Officer, Teaching and Leadership Excellence Division include:
  • Leading and managing professional learning programs through their life cycle, working with and coordinating teams across the Academy to, for example, procure and onboard appropriate program facilitators and enable high-quality learning design.
  • Project managing program timelines, risks, budgets, procurement and contracts and program quality
  • Provi ding high-quality advice to internal and external stakeholders on program design, policy alignment and evidence-informed practice
  • Ensuring alignment and consistency of approach to program and project management practices across the Academy
  • Contributing to continuous improvement practices in the Teaching and Leadership Excellence Division
Capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing projects, applied to the delivery of professional learning or training
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex issues and problems
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in leading the delivery of professional learning programs or training
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement influencing and advisory skills
  • Highly developed written communication skills
  • Ability to contribute to planning and prioritisation
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Experience or qualifications in education, project and program management or learning design and delivery would be valuable but not mandatory.
