Job summary

NRG Services is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Brisbane-based Mechanical Projects team. You will lead mechanical HVAC design development, coordinate across estimates, project management and construction, and drive projects from concept to commissioning.

The role requires a strong track record in mechanical HVAC within consulting or contracting and registration or active pursuit of RPEQ, with a focus on buildability, safety and quality.

Qualifications

• 9+ years' experience in mechanical HVAC engineering within a consulting and/or contracting environment.
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or actively working towards registration.
• Strong understanding of HVAC system design, equipment selection, construction methods and commissioning.
• Experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions across commercial and/or industrial building projects.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards, the NCC and industry requirements.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Current C Class driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and delivery of mechanical HVAC systems across multiple projects.
• Review calculations, equipment selections, schedules and design documentation.
• Develop cost-effective, compliant engineering solutions considering constructability.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and alternate designs.
• Provide technical support to project managers and construction teams through procurement, installation and commissioning.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to resolve issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide engineering deliverables.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of engineering processes and standards.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Project Engineer to join our Brisbane-based mechanical engineering team.

This is an opportunity for a technically capable mechanical engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, developing practical design solutions and seeing projects progress from concept through to completion.

Working closely with our estimating, project management and construction teams, you will take a leading role in the technical delivery of mechanical HVAC projects while contributing to the development of our engineering capabilities and standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the design development, technical coordination and engineering delivery of mechanical HVAC systems across multiple projects.
• Undertake and review engineering calculations, equipment selections, technical schedules and design documentation.
• Develop practical, cost-effective and compliant engineering solutions with consideration for constructability, maintainability and project requirements.
• Identify and evaluate value engineering opportunities and alternative design solutions.
• Provide technical support to project managers and construction teams throughout procurement, installation and commissioning.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and coordinate engineering outcomes.
• Review engineering deliverables and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, design standards and technical quality.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced mechanical HVAC engineer with strong technical capability, sound engineering judgement and a collaborative approach to project delivery.

• 9+ years' experience in mechanical HVAC engineering within a consulting and/or contracting environment.
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or actively working towards registration.
• Strong understanding of HVAC system design, equipment selection, construction methodologies and commissioning requirements.
• Demonstrated experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions across commercial and/or industrial building projects.
• Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, the National Construction Code and industry requirements.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Current C Class driver's licence.
