Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment on behalf of a Canberra-based Tier 2 commercial builder seeks a Senior Project Engineer. You will coordinate project delivery, manage subcontractors, drive programmes, and ensure quality, safety, and commercial objectives are met on landmark projects in the region.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will mentor engineers, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and contribute to program success while maintaining high standards of collaboration and technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer within commercial construction.
• Experience delivering projects valued at $30M+.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, programming, procurement, and contract administration.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing project team.
• Experience with Tier 1, Tier 2, or reputable commercial contractors is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage project delivery activities across all stages of construction.
• Develop and monitor programmes, procurement schedules, and construction methodologies.
• Manage subcontractor performance, progress, and compliance.
• Drive quality assurance processes and ensure works are delivered to specification.
• Assist with cost control, forecasting, contract administration, and variation management.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and key project stakeholders.
• Mentor and support Project Engineers and Site Engineers within the project team.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and legislative requirements.
