Job summary

UGL is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer - Fire Services (Wet & Dry) to lead the fire protection package on a major hyperscale data centre project in Melbourne. You will own delivery from procurement through testing and handover, coordinating with the MEP team and subcontractors on site.

This role requires strong leadership, practical fire services knowledge, and the ability to drive safety, quality and schedule in a fast-paced construction environment with wide interfaces

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Experience as a Project Engineer delivering fire services on major construction projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing specialist subcontractors and coordinating stakeholders.
• Experience delivering projects in data centres, hospitals, defence facilities, airports or large-scale commercial developments.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments and drive project outcomes.

• Coordinate fire protection interfaces across mechanical, electrical, BMS, security, civil and architectural disciplines.
• Review and control technical submissions, design changes, RFIs and variations to ensure compliance with the fire strategy.
• Plan and execute testing, commissioning and integrated systems verification, driving defect resolution and certification.
• Deliver complete project handover documentation, training, approvals and operational acceptance for occupancy.

UGL is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer - Fire Services (Wet & Dry) - to join the team delivering a major hyperscale data centre project in Melbourne.

Reporting to the MEP Project Manager, and working with the MEP Construction Manager and Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of the delivery of all fire protection works across the project, leading and managing specialist fire services subcontractors from procurement and installation through testing, commissioning and handover.

This site-based role requires practical delivery experience across wet fire services and dry fire detection, alarm and emergency warning systems, including their interfaces with other building services.

• Experience delivering projects in data centres, hospitals, defence facilities, airports, laboratories or large-scale commercial developments will be highly regarded.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
