Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a dedicated Site Engineer - Electrical to join Central-West Orana REZ transmission project in NSW. You will supervise electrical works, ensure quality and safety, coordinate with subcontractors for substations up to 220kV. On-site roster-based accommodation available.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 1–3 years post-graduate construction experience, with strong planning, communication and teamwork. Australian work rights.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with outdoor air insulated substations and 220 kV+ substations.
• 1–3 years post-graduate construction/engineering experience preferred.
• Strong teamwork, planning, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of HS&E requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality and environmental aspects of the project are addressed for safe delivery.
• Record non-conformances and initiate corrective actions promptly.
• Complete outstanding defects as required by the program.
• Prepare inspection reports and checklists reflecting contract requirements.
• Assist with planning use of materials, resources, and construction methods.
• Support Project Engineer with construction planning documents and progress monitoring.
• Maintain project schedule and coordinate activities.
• Prepare status reports and change orders.
• Track resources daily and contribute to cost planning.
• Coordinate resource allocation and foster teamwork toward objectives.

ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.
The new transmission network infrastructure will deliver at least 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity from 2028 to connect 7.7 gigawatts of wind and solar projects, which is enough to power more than 2 million homes each year.
The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie.
The Central-West Orana project is currently seeking a dedicated Site Engineer - Electrical to share their expertise within our growing Energy Hubs and Substations Teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
  
• Ensures non-conformances are recorded and corrective actions initiated as soon as practically possible.
  
• Completes all outstanding defects as required by the program.
  
• Prepares Inspection Test Reports and checklists that accurately reflect contract requirements.
  
• Provide support on planning the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success, value for money and best practice are achieved.
  
• Assist the Project Engineer with development of construction planning documents and monitor implementation.
  
• Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress and coordinating activities.
  
• Assist with preparing project status reports and change orders.
  
• Assesses progress daily and prepares plan of works for daily cost planning meeting (if held)
  
• Responsible and accountable to ensure that the requirements of the Contract are being satisfied at work crew level.
  
• Coordinate resource allocation with the expectation that you would encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
  
• Tracks subcontractor resources daily and record accurately
  
• Prepares cost plan/resources for daily cost planning meeting.
  

Required Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor's degree (Engineering) Electrical or Relevant Tertiary Education
  
• Experience constructing outdoor air insulated substations and substations at 220kV or above
  
• Tier 1 Contractor experience is preferred, on large scale projects
  
• Preferable 0 to 3 years post graduate experience in a construction/engineering environment
  
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
  
• Establish and steward overall delivery work plans.
  
• Ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are satisfied.
  
• Competent in planning and organising work schedules.
  
• Working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same
  
• Clear communication - verbal and written
  

Site Engineer positions are bus in, bus out, camp style accommodation provided for 14 days onsite and 7 days off site, on a roster-based arrangement out of the Central West Orana Region.
