Job summary

UGL is advertising a Senior Project Engineer – Electrical in Melbourne, VIC to drive electrical packages for hyperscale data centre developments. You will oversee design to handover, coordinate HV/LV, UPS, generators and switchgear, and manage electrical subcontractors across complex projects.

Reporting to the MEP Construction Manager, you will drive safety, quality and programme outcomes while engaging with clients, consultants and stakeholders to deliver high‑profile data centre

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer delivering data centre, healthcare, defence or complex commercial building projects.
• Strong understanding of critical electrical systems including HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators and switchgear.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of electrical services packages from design and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Manage and coordinate electrical subcontractors to achieve safety, quality, commercial and programme objectives.
• Drive technical coordination of HV/LV systems, generators, UPS, switchboards and critical power infrastructure.
• Coordinate interfaces across mechanical, electrical, controls, ICT, BMS, fire and commissioning disciplines.
• Review designs, identify constructability opportunities and mitigate project risks
• Monitor project performance and contribute to schedule, cost, quality and reporting outcomes.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project stakeholders.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the MEP Construction Manager, you will take ownership of critical electrical packages across major hyperscale data centre projects, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality delivery from design through to commissioning and handover.

You'll Bring

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer supporting data centres, healthcare, defence, or other complex commerical building projects
• Strong understanding of critical electrical systems including HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators and switchgear.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing multiple stakeholder interfaces.
• Strong communication, planning, commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
