Job summary

BMD Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead electrical packages for the Charmhaven Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade on the NSW Central Coast. You will manage HV/LV infrastructure, switch rooms, MCCs and SCADA interfaces through construction, testing and commissioning.

• Strong understanding of electrical construction, testing and commissioning.
• Knowledge of specifications, QA, safety and environmental requirements.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary interfaces.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem solving skills.
• Ability to mentor developing engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate electrical packages through procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation and resolve engineering and constructability issues.
• Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, civil, structural, process and controls disciplines.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers and technical interfaces to support safe and efficient delivery.
• Support planning of electrical isolations, cutovers, testing and commissioning within a live treatment plant.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, quality, safety and environmental requirements.
• Work closely with the project leadership team, client, consultants and operational stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Project Engineers, Site Engineers and Graduates.

About the Role

BMD is seeking an experienced Senior ElectricalProject Engineer to join our team delivering the Charmhaven Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade on the NSW Central Coast. This is an opportunity to take a key electrical delivery role on a major, multidisciplinary wastewater infrastructure project. The upgrade includes significant civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process and control works, all being delivered within an operational treatment facility.

Working as part of the onsite project team, you will help lead the delivery of electrical packages including HV and LV infrastructure, switch rooms, MCCs, VSDs, power and instrumentation cabling, controls and interfaces with SCADA, through construction, testing and commissioning.

Your role will include:

• lead and coordinate electrical packages through procurement, construction, testing and commissioning
• review drawings, specifications and technical documentation and resolve engineering and constructability issues
• coordinate electrical works with mechanical, civil, structural, process and controls disciplines
• manage subcontractors, suppliers and technical interfaces to support safe and efficient delivery
• support planning of electrical isolations, cutovers, testing and commissioning within a live treatment plant
• ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, quality, safety and environmental requirements
• work closely with the project leadership team, client, consultants and operational stakeholders
• provide technical guidance and mentoring to Project Engineers, Site Engineers and Graduates.

The focus on live plant interfaces is particularly important at Charmhaven, where the broader project requires staged integration, cutovers, SCADA programming, testing, commissioning and operational proving.

About You

• a tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering
• demonstrated project engineering experience within a construction or infrastructure environment
• experience delivering electrical packages across water, wastewater or comparable complex infrastructure
• practical understanding of electrical construction, testing and commissioning
• strong knowledge of specifications, quality assurance, safety and environmental requirements
• experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary interfaces
• strong communication, stakeholder management and problem solving skills
• the ability to support and mentor developing engineers.
