Job summary

Atlas Recruitment is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for a $100M defence project based in Nowra, NSW. You will join a well-resourced delivery team, taking ownership of critical construction packages from procurement through to completion.

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer on large commercial or defence projects, strong technical knowledge, and proven subcontractor management abilities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer in a commercial head contractor role.
• Experience on large-scale commercial, Defence, government or complex construction projects.
• Strong technical and construction knowledge with subcontractor management experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Australian construction experience is essential; Defence experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of key construction packages from procurement through to completion.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors and consultants.
• Procurement and delivery of major trade packages.
• Design coordination and resolution of technical issues.
• Review drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
• Manage RFIs, variations and project documentation.
• Monitor programme, quality and project deliverables.
• Coordinate between site, design and commercial teams.
• Maintain high safety and quality standards and mentor junior engineers.

Senior Project Engineer – $100M Defence Project | Nowra

An established Tier 2 commercial builder is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join the delivery team on a major $100 million Defence project based in Nowra, NSW.

This is a long-term opportunity to join a well-resourced project team delivering a complex, high-profile Defence project on the NSW South Coast.
The Role Working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team, you will take ownership of key construction packages from procurement through to completion.
Key responsibilities include:

• Management and coordination of subcontractors and consultants
• Procurement and delivery of major trade packages
• Design coordination and resolution of technical issues
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and construction documentation
• Managing RFIs, variations and project documentation
• Monitoring programme, quality and project deliverables
• Coordinating between site, design and commercial teams
• Ensuring works meet project specifications and Defence requirements
• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
• Maintaining high safety and quality standards

About You

• Previous experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer with a commercial head contractor
• Experience on large-scale commercial, Defence, government or complex construction projects
• Strong technical and construction knowledge
• Proven experience managing subcontractors and significant trade packages
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Relevant Engineering, Construction Management or Building qualification
• Australian construction experience essential
• Defence experience and/or relevant security clearance highly regarded
