Eptec is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for our Defence Solutions team in Osborne, South Australia. You will lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling and QA/QC support across defence projects.

About the role:
We are currently seeking a motivated Senior Project Engineer to join our dynamic Defence Solutions team based in Osborne, South Australia.
Reporting to the Project Manager, this role combines hands-on engineering project support with robust cost tracking and scheduling responsibilities. You will work closely with project delivery teams to develop detailed project plans, manage budgets, track schedules, and oversee QA/QC requirements. Your focus will be on driving operational excellence, resource optimisation, and financial performance across single and multiple small-to-mid-level projects.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Project Planning & Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project plans, Gantt charts, and schedules (using MS Project) defining scopes, tasks, and timelines. Identify critical paths and manage schedule deviations.
Financial & Budget Management: Handle weekly budget reporting, job costings, revenue projections, and site expenses. Prepare accurate costs-to-complete forecasts, assist with invoicing, and manage variation notices.
Procurement & Administration: Coordinate logistics, equipment control, supplies, subcontractor management, and project documentation (action logs, project briefs, and registers).
Operational & Site Support: Organise work fronts, plan daily activities, and interact daily with Site Supervisors and Project Managers to provide technical assistance.
QA/QC & Compliance: Ensure full adherence to contract conditions, client standards, quality assurance procedures, and Eptec’s management systems.
Safety & Zero Harm: Champion the Zero Harm safety culture by conducting inspections, developing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and maintaining a safe, compliant work environment.
Skills & Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2 to 5 years of professional experience within Asset Remediation, Civil Construction, Infrastructure, or Defence environments.
Highly desirable experience in technical processes such as blasting & painting, concrete rehabilitation, surface preparation, and the management of hazardous substances.
NACE 1 or 2 certification is highly desirable.
Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project).
