Job summary

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a Senior Project Accountant/Cost Controller to manage project financials and reporting across the BDA portfolio. Based at RAAF Base Williamtown, you’ll partner with project managers, product teams and the Commonwealth customer to deliver accurate forecasts and robust financial controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or commerce or equivalent.
• CA/CPA qualification is desirable.
• 6+ years in project accounting, management accounting or cost control.
• Defence industry or project-based experience.
• Familiarity with Oracle ERP; TM1 is desirable.
• Proficient Excel and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in weekly, monthly and annual reporting requirements.
• Prepare Estimates at Completion.
• Make recommendations to management on financial performance projections.
• Initiate and review variance analysis for stakeholders.
• Analyse, interpret, and reconcile financial information.
• Prepare internal and external financial reports for management.
• Stakeholder liaison with project managers, product leads and Commonwealth customer.
• Mentor junior project accountants.

The opportunity

We are seeking a talentedSenior Project Accountant/Cost Controllerto join our Boeing Defence Australia Finance team. This role consists of project financial management and reporting to support projects across the BDA Portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Participate in weekly, monthly and annual reporting requirements;
• Prepare Estimates at Completion.
• Make recommendations to management on financial performance projections using financial and business knowledge and experience;
• Initiate and review variance analysis and provide understanding of operational and financial performance to multiple stakeholders across the business;
• Analyse, interpret, prepare and reconcile financial information;
• Prepare standard and ad hoc internal and external financial reports for management and present to internal stakeholders where required;
• Stakeholder management including liaising with project managers, product team leads, finance team, program leadership and the Commonwealth customer;
• Mentoring of junior project accountants in the team.

Experience/Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business or commerce; or equivalent experience in the workforce.
• CA/CPA qualification desirable.
• Relevant experience in a project accounting, management accounting or cost control role
• 6 or more years' related work experience in Defence Industry or other project based industries.
• Familiarity with Oracle ERP, TM1 is highly desirable but not essential.
• Competent user with intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to adapt to different situations, be proactive and organise priorities autonomously to meet deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage financial aspects of diverse projects.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders.
