Job summary

People2people - Brisbane is seeking a Senior Project Accountant in Brisbane on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role blends project accounting, financial analysis and business partnering to support vulnerable Australians through essential housing and support services.

You will report to the Financial Controller and influence budgeting, forecasting, reporting and governance across multiple projects, with a focus on continuous improvement and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA/IPA qualification required.
• Experience in project accounting, budgeting and financial analysis.
• Advanced Excel; Power BI experience preferred.
• Payroll oversight and award interpretation.
• Audits, compliance and governance experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Continuous improvement mindset and efficiency drive.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while partnering across the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial management of key organisational projects and programs.
• Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts and financial models.
• Conduct cost analysis, variance reporting and financial performance reviews.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and provide commercial insights.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve financial outcomes and efficiency.
• Drive finance process improvement initiatives, controls and governance frameworks.
• Review and enhance systems, workflows and reporting capabilities.
• Support system enhancements, automation and finance transformation projects.
• Develop reporting frameworks, dashboards and KPI reporting.
• Prepare financial reports and provide meaningful analysis to stakeholders.
• Support audit readiness, compliance and financial stewardship activities.

Based in Brisbane, they are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to join the team on an initial 12-month contract during an exciting period of growth, transformation and continuous improvement.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this is a broad and impactful role that blends project accounting, financial analysis, process improvement and business partnering. You'll have the opportunity to influence financial performance, enhance reporting capabilities and drive key finance initiatives that leave a lasting legacy across the organisation.

The Role

This is a hands-on position offering variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a genuine impact. Key responsibilities include:

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• CA, CPA or IPA qualification
• Demonstrated experience in project accounting, budgeting and financial analysis
• Strong financial modelling, forecasting and reporting capability
• Experience supporting audits, compliance and governance processes
• Advanced Excel skills, with Power BI experience highly regarded
• Payroll oversight experience, including award interpretation and compliance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for driving efficiency
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• The ability to work autonomously while partnering effectively across the business
