• Salary: $116,413 - $140,849 (Plus Superannuation of 12%)

The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. In this context, the VCAA is responsible for developing high-quality curriculum and assessment products and services.

The VCAA is a registered foundational and senior secondary awarding body with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). As part of its functions, the VCAA develops policies, criteria and standards for:

• curriculum, assessments and courses for school-aged students
• learning, development and assessments which relate to early childhood

The VCAA develops strong relationships with the government, Independent and Catholic school sector, other national and interstate curriculum authorities, academics in the field, teacher/subject associations and, most importantly, with Victorian educators.

About the Division

The Curriculum Division is responsible for the development, implementation and review of:

• the Victorian Curriculum F-10
• Senior Secondary, including: the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the VCE Vocational Major; the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC); the VCE Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs; international programs

The Curriculum Design and Implementation Branch plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of Victorian teachers and learners. The Branch delivers the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 and provides system leadership in implementation excellence, curriculum leadership, and evidence-informed innovation.

The Curriculum Design and Implementation Branch leads the design, revision and implementation of the Early Years and Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 (VC2.0), spanning curriculum architecture, policy advice, research and evidence, quality assurance, and the development and publication of curriculum resources and professional learning that support schools to know, understand, implement and plan. The Branch also carries the VCAA's Treaty obligation to embed First Nations Truth‑Telling across the curriculum and works alongside the Strategy and Policy Branch and Assessment Division on cross‑cutting priorities such as assessment policy and curriculum implementation advice.

Role Purpose

The Senior Program Adviser – Curriculum Support Services, plays a key role in supporting the familiarisation and implementation of the VCAA's Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 amongst all Victorian teachers. The Senior Program Adviser will be part of the Victorian Curriculum Support Services Unit and work directly with the Principal Curriculum Adviser. The role has a strong focus on managing and supporting the design, delivery and evaluation of Victorian Curriculum F–10 curriculum support services including curriculum resources and professional learning.

As part of the team the Senior Program Adviser will co‑coordinate the development and production of a variety of support services including but not limited to curriculum resources, interactive webinars, introductory videos, and on demand modules. They will help create support services that are based on an understanding of best practice resource development, professional learning theories, and instructional design principles. They will provide guidance in relation to applying publication specifications and outlining the steps that will be followed to progress support services from the drafting stage through to delivery. They will oversee the quality assurance process, ensuring those involved understand their contribution to this process. This role will be responsible for each curriculum resource and professional learning offering adhering to the VCAA Style Guide and will ensure consistency in language across all project documentation. The role will oversee the implementation of timelines for the support services, ensuring adequate time is allowed for each step in the process and are delivered in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

Relevant tertiary qualification in Education, Project Management, Curriculum Resource Development, Professional Learning, Instructional Design, Publication, or a related field
