Job summary

Ausenco in Adelaide seeks a Senior Process Engineer to deliver process engineering across studies and projects from concept to detailed design. You will lead process deliverables and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive value in mineral processing assignments.

Ideal candidates have degree-qualified metallurgical/chemical engineering, strong plant design experience for base and precious metals, and a track record in EPCM or similar environments.

Qualifications

• Strong design experience in base and precious metals plants.
• Knowledge of process engineering workflows and relevant codes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver process engineering design and documentation aligned with project objectives.
• Develop PDC, PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, equipment sizing and mass/heat balances.
• Lead trade-off studies and cost estimates; conduct process modelling and high-level assessments.
• Prepare technical specifications and process designs for mineral processing projects.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer to join our team in Adelaide.

About the role

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will provide process engineering and mineral processing expertise across studies and projects, from concept through to detailed design.

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver process engineering design and documentation aligned with project objectives and scope.
• Develop key process deliverables including Process Design Criteria (PDC), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control philosophies, equipment sizing, and heat & mass balances.
• Lead trade-off studies, operating cost estimates, process modelling and high-level technical assessments.
• Develop technical specifications and process designs for mineral processing projects, particularly in the base and precious metals sectors.
• Resolve complex technical and design issues and provide process engineering support throughout project execution.
• Engage with clients and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver practical, value-driven outcomes.
• Identify and implement innovative technologies and solutions that enhance project performance and client value.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and graduates within the team.

About you

• Degree qualified in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in the mineral processing industry, ideally within EPCM projects, consulting engineering, or owner-side study and project environments.
• Strong experience in mill, concentrator and/or metallurgical plant design, particularly for base and precious metals operations.
• Sound understanding of engineering workflows, process engineering software, relevant codes and standards.
• Strong process analysis, problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
• Operational experience in mining, mineral processing or metallurgical facilities, including plant optimisation and improvement projects, will be highly regarded
