Qualifications

Senior Privacy & Telecommunications Lawyer| 6-12 Month Secondment

Sydney | Hybrid

Elevate Legal Talent is seeking an experienced Privacy & Telecommunications Lawyer for a 6 to 12-month secondment with one of Australia's leading telecommunications businesses.

The successful candidate will play a key advisory role across privacy, telecommunications regulation, compliance, and emerging legislative reform initiatives. This role will suit a senior lawyer who is comfortable operating autonomously and providing strategic, commercially focused legal advice to a broad range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Advising on Privacy Act obligations and related compliance requirements
• Providing guidance on Part 13 of the Telecommunications Act, including matters relating to protected information
• Advising on obligations arising under the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act
• Supporting the General Counsel and responses to law enforcement requests & associated compliance considerations
• Assisting with telecommunications regulatory reform initiatives and legislative change projects
• Advising on privacy issues arising in the context of domestic and family violence matters
• Supporting the implementation and interpretation of the Scam Prevention Framework and related regulatory requirements
• Providing ongoing strategic and operational legal support to business stakeholders on privacy and telecommunications compliance matters

About You

We are looking for an Australian-qualified lawyer with 10+ years' post-admission experience and:

• Strong experience advising on Australian privacy laws and regulatory compliance
• Demonstrated telecommunications sector experience, particularly in relation to:
• Part 13 Telecommunications Act obligations/Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act requirements
• A strong understanding of regulated industries and complex legislative frameworks
• Experience navigating regulatory reform and implementing legal change initiatives
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Experience with Government or telecommunications industry experience will be highly regarded.
