Job summary

Elevate Legal Talent is seeking an experienced Corporate / M&A Lawyer for a 6-month secondment with a leading Australian financial institution. The role is based in Sydney and involves supporting a high-performing in-house legal team.

The successful candidate will provide commercially focused legal advice across a range of M&A transactions and corporate matters in a fast-paced banking environment. 3-5 years' post-admission experience is preferred, with strong drafting and stakeholder management

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing in-house legal team, supporting a strong pipeline of M&A transactions and strategic corporate matters.

The successful lawyer will work closely with experienced in-house legal and business stakeholders, providing commercially focused legal advice across a range of transactions in a fast-paced banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal support and advice on M&A transactions, including transaction structuring, due diligence and documentation.
• Advise on a range of corporate and banking matters relevant to the business.
• Draft, review and negotiate transaction and financing documentation.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers to support transactions through to completion.
• Identify and manage legal and commercial risks while providing practical, business-focused advice.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the Corporate, Treasury and WIB functions.

About You

We are ideally seeking a lawyer with:

• 3-5 years' post-admission experience in corporate/M&A and/or banking law.
• Strong hands-on experience working on M&A transactions.
• Experience within a top-tier law firm and/or in-house banking/financial services environment.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• A pragmatic, commercially minded approach to legal advice.

More senior lawyers are also encouraged to apply where they have strong, directly relevant M&A and banking experience.
