Job summary

AMC Consultants (AMC) seeks a Senior Mining Consultant / Principal Mining Consultant to lead our Strategy Optimization team. You will bridge technical solutions and commercial outcomes across the full mine value chain, with hybrid work options from global offices.

You will model options using our Hill of Value process, publish thought leadership on cut‑off grade and optimization, mentor junior staff, and develop client relationships while delivering high‑quality reports and presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering (Master/MBA/PhD favourable).
• Principal position requires ~15+ years of mining experience with strong technical foundations.

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Mining Consultant / Principal Mining Consultant to play a leading role and be part of our Strategy Optimization team. We focus on bridging the gap between technical solutions and commercial mining outcomes by providing whole‑of‑mine optimisation advice. The role will be based out of one of our global offices with hybrid work options available.

You might currently be in an operational, consulting or other technical role. In any case, you have a core understanding of the full mine value chain and are keen to deep dive into the intricate challenges and opportunities often associated with the mining industry to uncover real value. As a member of our Strategy Optimization team you will be supported by consultants from all across the globe – all experts in their respective disciplines, keen to share their knowledge.

Strategy Optimization and AMC’s Hill of Value

Every mining operation is unique, and it takes years of hard‑won experience to understand how changes to the economic environment, the physical environment, and the mining and processing operations impact a mining operation’s present and future value.

Based on our unique IP, AMC’s Hill of Value (HoV) process allows our clients to model all options and scenarios to ensure they understand the key opportunities and risks associated with all aspects of their mining operations. Utilizing our HoV modelling software, we provide a robust and comprehensive assessment of multiple input and scenario combinations to uncover all the available strategic options, allowing our clients to make an informed decision to achieve their business goals.

Core Functions

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mining engineering. A higher qualification such as Master’s, MBA or PhD is favourable but not essential and shows a commitment to relevant self‑development.
• For the Principal position, a minimum of 15 years’ experience in mining with strong technical foundations and operations experience.
• Demonstrated capacity to work independently, coupled with strong problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to high ethical standards and professionalism, with values aligned to those of AMC.
