Job summary
Secure Agility in Sydney is seeking a Senior Pre-Sales Network & Security Solutions Architect to design end-to-end network and security solutions across carriage, SD-WAN, SSE, SASE, cloud, IoT and managed services.
You will own the technical scope, work closely with sales and customers, and guide opportunities from discovery through design to delivery, ensuring solutions are technically sound, commercially viable and scalable.
Qualifications
- 8+ years designing enterprise network and security solutions.
- Experience in MSP/MSSP or SI with client-facing roles.
- Strong pre-sales or solution architecture capabilities across workshops and proposals.
- Deep knowledge of routing, switching, WAN, firewalls and secure networking.
- Experience with SSE/SASE, ZTNA, CASB and DLP is desirable.
Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Pre-Sales Network & Security Solutions Architect who understands secure connectivity from the physical network upwards.
You should be comfortable designing the complete ISP and enterprise connectivity stack, including:
Physical carriage and underlay > WAN and Internet > SD-WAN overlay > SSE and SASE > ZTNA and private access > Managed Security Services
Many of the solutions we are now delivering are full-stack connectivity solutions rather than isolated network or security products.
You might currently be working for an MSP, MSSP, Systems Integrator, telecommunications provider, network vendor or cybersecurity company.
The ideal candidate can talk confidently about WAN circuits, fibre and carrier services in one conversation, then move into SD-WAN, zero trust, SSE, cloud connectivity and managed security in the next.
This is not a product specialist role. You will take ownership of the overall technical solution, work closely with our sales team and customers, and help turn complex requirements into solutions that can genuinely be delivered, operated and supported.
- Lead technical discovery and architecture workshops with customers.
- Design secure network solutions from the ground up, covering physical carriage, WAN, internet, SD-WAN, SSE, SASE, cloud connectivity and managed services.
- Understand and architect the complete ISP and connectivity stack, from physical network carriage through to overlay technologies such as SD-WAN and security services including SSE, SASE, ZTNA and private access.
- Architect SSE and SASE solutions using technologies such as Netskope, Zscaler or equivalent, including Secure Web Gateway, ZTNA, CASB, DLP and Firewall-as-a-Service.
- Design managed connectivity solutions across fibre, NBN, Ethernet, internet, mobile and carrier networks.
- Bring together the network underlay, SD-WAN overlay and security stack into a single integrated managed solution.
- Design hybrid cloud connectivity across AWS, Azure, Microsoft environments, private cloud and customer data centres.
- Design managed firewall, network and cybersecurity services with clear service definitions and service levels.
- Support opportunities involving IoT and edge connectivity, including the network architecture required to connect and secure devices such as cameras, ruggedised routers, gateways, sensors, power relays and other edge devices.
- Understand how IoT connectivity, edge infrastructure, carrier networks, security and cloud platforms fit together as part of a broader solution.
- Work alongside our cyber, cloud, network, telco and managed services teams to build integrated solutions rather than isolated technology components.
- Write Statements of Work, solution designs and proposals.
- Own technical scope, assumptions, dependencies and solution commercials.
- Present and defend architectures to senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Work with technology partners including Netskope, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet and other strategic vendors.
- Support sales opportunities from discovery through solution design, technical validation and successful deal closure.
- Hand solutions cleanly into project delivery, engineering and managed services teams.
- Balance customer outcomes with commercial viability, ensuring solutions are technically sound, competitive, supportable and profitable.
- Significant experience designing enterprise network and security solutions, typically 8+ years or equivalent depth of experience.
- Experience working within an MSP, MSSP, Systems Integrator, telecommunications provider, consulting firm or similar customer-facing technology environment.
- Strong pre-sales or solution architecture capability across discovery, architecture, technical workshops, Statements of Work, proposals and customer presentations.
- Deep network architecture knowledge across routing, switching, WAN, internet connectivity, firewalls and secure networking.
- Strong network security architecture experience across technologies such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet or equivalent.
- Practical SD-WAN architecture and design experience.
- Hands-on understanding of SSE and SASE architecture, including Secure Web Gateway, ZTNA, CASB, DLP, Firewall-as-a-Service and private application access.
You need to understand the network from the physical carriage upwards.
This includes experience or strong technical knowledge across:
- Fibre and Ethernet services
- NBN and business internet
- Carrier WAN services
- Mobile connectivity
- Internet and private network services
- Managed underlay
- SD-WAN overlays
- Carrier diversity and resilience
- Cloud connectivity
- Carrier management and service activation
You should understand how the physical carriage, SD-WAN overlay and SSE or SASE security layer work together as one complete service.
- Experience designing or supporting managed network and security services.
- Understanding of operational support models, SLAs, service boundaries, monitoring, escalation and lifecycle management.
- Ability to design something that can be effectively handed over to engineering, service delivery and support teams.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills.
- The seniority and presence to lead technical conversations with customers.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for technical and executive audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with sales while maintaining technical integrity.
- Commercial awareness around solution cost, margin, scope and ongoing support.

AI should improve your capability, not replace your technical thinking.
Exposure to IoT is highly regarded.
You do not need to be an electronics engineer, but you should understand the basic building blocks of an IoT or edge solution and how they connect back into the network and security architecture.
This could include:
- IP cameras
- Ruggedised routers
- Industrial gateways
- Sensors
- Power relays
- Edge compute
- SIM and mobile connectivity
- Private networking
- Secure remote access
- Cloud connectivity
- Network segmentation
Experience designing the connectivity and security layer around IoT environments will be particularly relevant.
- Exposure to Operational Technology, OT, or Industrial Control Systems, IC.
- Understanding of OT network segmentation and secure remote access.
- Exposure to PLC environments or industrial network architecture.
- Experience connecting and securing operational or industrial devices.
- Netskope and/or CrowdStrike certification or delivery experience.
- Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco or equivalent network and security certifications.
- CISSP or similar security certification.
- AWS, Azure or Microsoft infrastructure experience.
- Previous experience with IoT, edge computing or industrial connectivity solutions.
You are not designing one small piece of the solution. You can work across carriage, networking, cloud, security, IoT and managed services.
The architecture you design is backed by engineering, project delivery, telco, cybersecurity and managed services teams who can actually build and operate it.
