Victoria Police is seeking a policy professional to join the Organisational Policy Unit within the Policy and Legislation Division. The role focuses on developing and administering policy governance frameworks, advising on legislative reform and leading cross‑functional policy initiatives.
You will contribute to briefs, reports and communications, while applying strategic, analytical and stakeholder management skills across complex issues.
Policy and Legislation Division - Corporate Strategy and Governance: Organisational Policy Unit Policy and Legislation Division (PLD) is a dynamic and high performing division that operates across the policy life cycle from initiation, development and implementation of legislative reform at a national and state level, through to the development of organisational policy. It also provides executive advisory services. PLD staff are agile, working across multiple functions and subject matters to support the broader team in delivering organisational priorities and on any given day you could work on major and organised crime, firearms, covert services, forensics, road safety, family violence, just to name a few. PLD has a strong culture of service excellence, teamwork, inclusion and support across work units. PLD is visible throughout the entire organisation and its work directly contributes to and achieves positive outcomes for Victoria Police and the wider community. PLD also has a strong focus on developing our people and maintaining an excellent reputation both internally and external to Victoria Police. The Organisational Policy Unit (OPU) supports frontline employees by developing and providing clear and useable policies, procedures and guidelines. OPU is responsible for policy governance, including developing, administering and implementing the frameworks and processes that support policy functions in Victoria Police. OPU supports policy owners to develop and enhance organisational policy instruments including the Victoria Police Manual (VPM), Chief Commissioner's Instructions (CCIs), delegations, authorisations, and appointments. OPU also supports implementation of policy and legislative change across Victoria Police. Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements.
