Job summary

Thales Group in Brisbane is seeking a Senior PMO Specialist / Estimator to lead cost estimates for defence bids. You will coordinate with multiple partners, manage stakeholder inputs, and ensure traceable, robust estimates across complex projects.

Based in Eagle Farm, you will apply PMO principles and cost estimation expertise to support competitive tendering while maintaining compliance with defence standards and internal baselines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in PMO specialising in Cost Estimating with multi-partners / major co-contractors.
• Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to formulate innovative cost models/solutions/packages.
• Highly proficient in Excel modelling, importing and exporting of data between different tools.
• Demonstrated ability to meet objectives in a complex and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the construction and compilation of cost estimates with traceability to ensure a winning tender price.
• Coordinate stakeholders with estimating interfaces to support bids and proposals.
• Capture estimates and other cost inputs for bids with robust, auditable processes.

As part of our VTS business, our PRV team is primarily focused on the design, manufacture, delivery and support of protected mobility vehicles on a global scale. Our Protected Vehicles team works closely with clients to design, manufacture, maintain and upgrade protected vehicles that keep people safe, all around the world. Our state-of-the-art workshops are set up to help us deliver Hawkei and Bushmaster military vehicles to strict defence standards – and set our people on rewarding career paths.

As a Senior PMO Specialist / Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Protected Vehicles (PRV) teams in Eagle Farm by leading the construction and compilation of cost estimates with the required analysis and traceability to ensure a winning tender price. You will have expertise in program/project management structures and baselines such as WBS, OBS, RAM, WPDDs, Basis of Estimates, PMBs, etc, and control as well as ability to cover all aspects of cost estimation.

Based in Eagle Farm, Brisbane on Jagera and Turrbul land, your role purpose will be –

• Supporting the strategic elements of the bid and ensuring that the estimating strategy is properly implemented with the relevant resources and skills.
• Working with and coordinating stakeholders where there is an estimating interface.
• Leading the process for the capture of estimates and other cost inputs for bids and proposals.
• Ensuring that a robust and traceable estimate is developed.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Proven experience in PMO specialising in Cost Estimating with multi-partners / major co-contractors.
• Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to formulate innovative cost models/solutions/packages.
• Highly proficient in Excel modelling, importing and exporting of data between different tools.
• Demonstrated ability to meet objectives in a complex and fast-paced environment.
• Ability to resolve conflict and negotiate sound commercial outcomes.
• Strong internal stakeholder management in a matrix organisation.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Estimating experience in complex bids and projects across geographies and time zones.
• Working knowledge of Project Management concepts such as experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques, Work Breakdown Structures, PERT scheduling etc.
• Experience with Defence ASDEFCON procurement.
• Experience with estimating tools such as QDV, True Planning.
