Job summary

UpGuard is seeking a Platform Engineer to shape our platform engineering function from its early days. You’ll own platforms, tools and infrastructure powering development workflows, boosting reliability and developer experience across product teams.

You’ll define roadmaps, drive best practices, and scale systems as we grow, with senior or staff level" calibration based on experience. Fully remote in Australia with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• IaC experience with Terraform/OpenTofu on Google Cloud (preferred).
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience at tech-centric/product-driven companies.
• Strong software engineering foundation with a developer-first mindset.
• Hands-on with containerization, Kubernetes and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Relational DB design and performance tuning, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Proven track record of improving developer experience through tooling and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Champion a 'platform as a product' mindset, gather feedback from engineering teams and iterate to improve the developer experience.
• Design, build and maintain scalable, reliable infrastructure on Google Cloud to support product needs.
• Collaborate with developers to streamline local and CI/CD workflows, and promote platform best practices.
• Evolve the observability stack with monitoring, logging and alerting for fast, confident delivery.
• Implement secure-by-default patterns for networking, secrets management, IAM and workload isolation.
• Advance IaC and GitOps adoption for consistent, auditable infrastructure changes.
