Job summary

We are currently seeking experienced Senior Planners to join a high-performing government planning team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major planning and development outcomes across Queensland.

About the Role

As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in delivering complex planning projects and providing expert planning advice across a range of strategic and statutory planning functions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing development applications on behalf of the Queensland Government through the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA).
• Assessing major renewable energy development applications across Queensland.
• Supporting local governments in the development and review of planning schemes and planning instruments to ensure alignment with State planning requirements.
• Providing high-quality planning advice on complex development and policy matters.
• Preparing reports, briefs, recommendations, and stakeholder communications.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Strong experience in development assessment, statutory planning, and/or strategic planning.
• Proven ability to lead projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound professional judgement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of reports, submissions, and executive briefs.
• Experience working within local government, state government, or a private planning consultancy environment.
• A recognised Planning Degree (essential).
