Job summary
Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) is seeking a Senior PI Engineer/Developer to enhance our AVEVA PI System and related applications in Melbourne. You will support data environments, contribute to architecture, and collaborate across technical and business teams to deliver reliable, integrated operational data solutions.

Qualifications
- Significant experience administering, supporting and enhancing enterprise AVEVA PI systems, including PI Data Archive, AF, Vision and Analysis.
- Strong understanding of PI system architecture, interfaces and data integration.
- Experience developing or enhancing customised applications, integrations and automation solutions using programming and scripting languages.
- Knowledge of PI development technologies, including PI AF SDK and PI Web API.
- Sound technical knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, networking and cybersecurity principles.
- Experience supporting PI security, access management, system monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of SCADA systems and their integration with PI environments.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to challenges.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and share knowledge across diverse teams.
- Strong communication and relationship-building to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the administration, maintenance and enhancement of the AVEVA PI System, including PI Data Archive, AF, PI Vision and associated infrastructure.
- Support the development, maintenance and enhancement of customised web applications and system integrations using PI APIs, programming and scripting technologies.
- Monitor and optimise system health, performance, capacity and availability to maintain a secure and reliable operational data environment.
- Lead investigation and resolution of complex technical issues involving PI systems, connectivity, data quality and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with operational and technical teams to strengthen data integration between PI, SCADA and business applications.
- Provide technical guidance on PI system architecture, application design and future development opportunities.
- Coordinate system upgrades, patches, security improvements and lifecycle activities in alignment with organisational requirements.
- Maintain effective PI security, access controls and permissions while supporting cybersecurity and change management practices.
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation, improved monitoring and sustainable system enhancements.
- Build positive working relationships with stakeholders, service providers and technical teams to support knowledge sharing and effective outcomes.

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior PI Engineer / Developer to contribute to the ongoing reliability, development and improvement of Australian Gas Infrastructure Group's (AGIG) AVEVA PI System and associated applications.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting and enhancing our operational data environment, combining your expertise in PI system administration, engineering and application development. You will work collaboratively with technical teams, business stakeholders and external partners to strengthen system performance, enhance data integration and deliver innovative solutions that support operational excellence.
You will also provide technical guidance, contribute to system architecture decisions and help shape continuous improvement initiatives that support AGIG's evolving business needs.
