Job summary

HCF is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team in Australia. You will deliver end-to-end payroll processing for fortnightly and monthly cycles, manage queries, and provide trusted advice to employees and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you’ll support month-end/year-end processes and ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation. You will work with People & Culture and HR Systems teams, handle PAYG, superannuation, and EBAs, and contribute to

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in an end-to-end payroll environment.
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and EBAs.
• Excellent customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Experience with Preceda or a similar payroll system is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Process fortnightly and monthly payrolls accurately and within deadlines.
• Manage payroll queries and provide timely, high-quality customer service to employees.
• Prepare monthly payroll reports, reconciliations and support month-end and year-end processing.
• Manage PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation obligations.
• Process new starters, terminations, leave entitlements and superannuation choice funds.
• Interpret and apply relevant awards, EBAs and Australian payroll legislation.
• Resolve payroll issues, including overpayments and recovery processes.
• Liaise with the ATO and other relevant stakeholders when required.
• Work closely with People & Culture and HR Systems teams to maintain accurate employee information.
• Support payroll system changes, upgrades and implementations, including Preceda system administration.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and ways of working.
