Job summary

Hunter Douglas in Sydney seeks an experienced Payroll Accountant to join our team on a full-time basis. You will handle payroll accounting, financial reporting and cost analysis to support planning and compliance.

You will work with Finance, Payroll and HR to ensure accuracy of payroll data, perform reconciliations, and contribute to month-end and year-end close with robust internal controls.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• 3–5 years’ experience in accounting, payroll accounting or related area.
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll, accounting and statutory requirements.
• Experience with reconciliations, journals, accruals and provisions.
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end reporting.
• Advanced Excel and large data handling experience.
• Experience with HRIS or payroll systems and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll accounting activities, ensuring accurate recording and reporting of payroll transactions.
• Prepare and review payroll journals, reconciliations, accruals, provisions and other entries.
• Reconcile payroll liabilities against general ledger accounts.
• Investigate discrepancies between payroll, HR and financial records.
• Prepare payroll-related financial reports and support month-end/year-end reporting.
• Ensure accurate accounting of superannuation, PAYG withholding and payroll tax.
• Assist with workforce cost budgeting, forecasting and ZBB.
• Analyze actual costs vs budgets and report variances.
• Maintain payroll and employee data across systems and drive process improvements.
