Job summary

Landlinks Environmental Services seeks an experienced Project Manager / Head of Open Space Maintenance to lead a multi-site department in Melbourne and Victoria. You will oversee crews, manage budgets and deliver safe, high-quality public-space maintenance programs while coordinating schedules, reactive work and client communications.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years practical experience in open space maintenance, parks and gardens, horticulture, grounds maintenance or a related field.
• Proven experience managing crew leaders and field staff across multiple sites and programs.
• Strong reporting and communication skills, including site records, service updates and contract documentation.
• Experience with administrative tasks and day-to-day office processes.
• Experience planning, implementing and monitoring cyclical maintenance programs, reactive works and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Open Space Maintenance department and manage crew leaders and field staff across multiple sites, contracts and programs.
• Oversee mowing, garden bed maintenance, seasonal planting, landscape and facility maintenance, turf management and weed control.
• Plan and manage cyclical maintenance schedules across parks, reserves, streetscapes and roadside reserves using scheduling systems.
• Coordinate reactive works and urgent site responses while maintaining routine programs and logistics.
• Ensure site visits are documented, review service reports and provide clients with progress updates.
• Monitor site presentation, turf health, maintenance quality and contract requirements; implement improvements.
• Manage client relationships, contract delivery, project scoping, budgeting and resource planning.
• Mentor staff and build capable teams, ensure safety and proper traffic management.
