Job summary

Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist (Level 3) to join the Hyperacute Ward at Concord Centre for Mental Health. The role involves senior clinical leadership and improving patient care delivery within a fast-paced environment.

Registration with AHPRA is required, with advanced OT skills and strong negotiation/advocacy abilities for stakeholders. A rotating roster may be used, with some weekend daytime work possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or post graduate degree in Occupational Therapy with current AHPRA registration.
• Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and extensive OT experience.
• Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills with stakeholder consultation.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical leadership within Occupational Therapy services.
• Mentor and develop junior staff and support workforce development.
• Possibly rotate day/evening shifts; weekend day work may be required.

About the Role

The Hyperacute Occupational Therapy Team is based on the Intensive Psychiatric Care and High Dependency Units at Concord Centre for Mental Health. The provide Occupational Therapy services to meet the needs of the hyperacute client population, with a focus on sensory interventions, therapeutic engagement in occupation, and proactive de-escalation.

The Occupational Therapist will provide senior clinical leadership within Occupational Therapy service provision including optimisation of patient/client care delivery, as well as supporting the mentoring and development of staff.

The Hyperacute Therapy Team may work a rotating roster including day and evening shifts during the week and day shifts on weekends, but applicants who can only work Monday to Friday will be considered.

• Bachelor or post graduate degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and current registration with AHPRA, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
• Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in the provision of Occupational Therapy.
• Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including collaborative stakeholder consultation and current NSW Driver’s Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
