Job summary

Gateway Tax & Advisory is seeking an experienced accountant to work closely with the Director in a fully remote role across Australia. You will manage client accounting, prepare management reports and budgets, and meet monthly with CEOs and senior staff to discuss financial performance.

You will lead end-to-end accounting, payroll using Employment Hero and Xero, and oversee workload management, while developing colleagues.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of accounting experience, including nonprofit exposure.
• Strong end-to-end accounting, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting skills.
• Payroll experience using Employment Hero and Xero.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end accounting including AP/AR, reconciliations, journals, fixed assets and month-end.
• Prepare monthly management reports with commentary on performance, variances and cash flow.
• Develop annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections with client management.
• Lead monthly financial discussions with senior staff and action follow-ups.
• Monitor grant income and expenditure, acquittals, and reporting under funding agreements.
• Process and reconcile payroll using Employment Hero and Xero, with payroll cover across clients.
• Review client work, guide junior staff and ensure deadlines are met.
• Prepare BAS, annual financial statements and income tax returns where applicable.
