Job summary

Reserve Bank of Australia in Sydney seeks a Senior Network Engineer with Cisco networking and firewall expertise to advance cyber security, automation and cloud initiatives.

You will contribute to next generation networks including ACI, Zero Trust Networking, SD-WAN and Azure Cloud, reporting to the Network Services Support Team Lead.

This role involves provisioning, hardening and tuning infrastructure, incident response, design and scripting, with occasional on-call and site work at Bella Vista.

Qualifications

• IT degree with Cisco accreditations.
• Cisco LAN/WAN networking expertise.
• Experience with Cisco and/or Palo Alto firewalls and management tools.
• Experience with automation and scripting (Python).
• Knowledge of SD-WAN and cloud integration.

Responsibilities

• Provision and maintain network infrastructure, perform security hardening and capacity planning.
• Respond to 2nd line IT incidents and network security events.
• Create design docs, automation scripts, reports and records.
• Improve, test, and tune networking software/hardware for performance.
• Analyze network traffic and recommend security improvements.
• Conduct acceptance tests and commission communications systems.
• Occasional on-call and after-hours work; travel to Bella Vista resite.
• Collaborate with cyber security team to enhance protections.

• Work within high performing network team

The Bank is looking for a Senior Network Engineer with Cisco network and firewall experience who are keen to develop their cyber security, automation and cloud credentials.

The Bank is currently on the journey towards Software Defined Networking, and your skills and experience will be used and uplifted to support these key next generation networks including ACI, Zero Trust Networking with Software Defined Access, SD-WAN & Azure Cloud.

You will report to the Network Services Support Team Lead, within the Network Services team. The Network Services team is part of the Infrastructure Services section of IT.

About the role

• Undertake the provisioning, maintenance, security hardening, capacity planning and performance testing of network (data, storage) systems infrastructure
• Participate in 2nd line IT incident and security response capability for network infrastructure
• Produce design, automation scripts, technical documentation, reports, and records regarding infrastructure solutions
• Improve, harden, test, implement, monitor, and tune networking software/hardware to ensure optimum systems performance and highlight potential issues
• Manage the analysis of network traffic data and providing recommendations on performance and security improvements to network infrastructures as appropriate
• Undertake acceptance tests and commissioning communications systems and equipment
• Occasional scheduled work at our Business Resumption Site at Bella Vista will be required
• Work with cyber security team to improve Bank's protections and remediate vulnerabilities
• This role may require participation in an on-call support roster and occasional after-hours or weekend work.

About you

• Degree preferred in IT coupled with Industry accreditations in Cisco and ITIL
• Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco networking infrastructure covering both Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs)
• Strong experience with Firewalls Cisco and/or Palo Alto and applicable management tools to manage such as Cisco Security Manager (CSM) and Firewall Management Centre (FMC).
• Demonstrated experience managing and supporting F5 BIG-IP environments, including LTM/GTM configuration, traffic management, and application load balancing.
• Proficient in writing policies and procedures and other support documentation
• Strong experience or willingness to learn: Python and relevant scripting languages to automate activities.
• Demonstrated experience IAC (Terraform) and Cisco ACI.
• Good understanding of IT infrastructure and Service Management practices.
• Knowledge or willingness to learn: Network management tools such as Cisco DNA Centre, Statseeker and Infoblox.
• Knowledge of Cisco SD-WAN technologies is desirable.
