Job summary

Reserve Bank of Australia is seeking a Senior Network Engineer in Sydney to advance our next generation networks, including ACI, Zero Trust Networking, SD-WAN, and Azure Cloud.

You will work within the Network Services team to provision, secure and troubleshoot network infrastructure, while driving automation and security improvements across LAN/WAN environments.

Qualifications

• Degree preferred in IT with industry accreditations in Cisco and ITIL.
• Knowledge of Cisco LANs and WANs infrastructure.
• Experience with Cisco/ Palo Alto firewalls and management tools (CSM, FMC).
• Experience managing F5 BIG-IP (LTM/GTM) and load balancing.
• Proficiency in writing policies and support docs; scripting in Python.
• Experience with IAC (Terraform) and Cisco ACI.
• Familiarity with network management tools such as Cisco DNA Centre, Infoblox; SD-WAN knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provision, maintain and secure network infrastructure, including data and storage systems.
• Support 2nd line IT incident and security response for network infra.
• Produce design docs, automation scripts, reports and records.
• Improve, harden, test, implement and monitor networking software/hardware for optimal performance.
• Analyze network traffic data and suggest performance and security improvements.
• Conduct acceptance tests and commission communications systems.
• Occasional work at Business Resumption Site and potential on-call after hours.

• Work within high performing network team

The Bank is looking for a Senior Network Engineer with Cisco network and firewall experience who are keen to develop their cyber security, automation and cloud credentials.

The Bank is currently on the journey towards Software Defined Networking, and your skills and experience will be used and uplifted to support these key next generation networks including ACI, Zero Trust Networking with Software Defined Access, SD-WAN & Azure Cloud.

You will report to the Network Services Support Team Lead, within the Network Services team. The Network Services team is part of the Infrastructure Services section of IT.

As part of the team, you will provide expert services in relation to network management, troubleshooting and improvements, while providing a service-oriented approach.

About the role

• Undertake the provisioning, maintenance, security hardening, capacity planning and performance testing of network (data, storage) systems infrastructure
• Participate in 2nd line IT incident and security response capability for network infrastructure
• Produce design, automation scripts, technical documentation, reports, and records regarding infrastructure solutions
• Improve, harden, test, implement, monitor, and tune networking software/hardware to ensure optimum systems performance and highlight potential issues
• Manage the analysis of network traffic data and providing recommendations on performance and security improvements to network infrastructures as appropriate
• Undertake acceptance tests and commissioning communications systems and equipment
• Occasional scheduled work at our Business Resumption Site at Bella Vista will be required
• Work with cyber security team to improve Bank’s protections and remediate vulnerabilities
• This role may require participation in an on-call support roster and occasional after-hours or weekend work.

About you

• Degree preferred in IT coupled with Industry accreditations in Cisco and ITIL
• Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco networking infrastructure covering both Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs)
• Strong experience with Firewalls Cisco and/or Palo Alto and applicable management tools to manage such as Cisco Security Manager (CSM) and Firewall Management Centre (FMC).
• Demonstrated experience managing and supporting F5 BIG-IP environments, including LTM/GTM configuration, traffic management, and application load balancing.
• Proficient in writing policies and procedures and other support documentation
• Strong experience or willingness to learn: Python and relevant scripting languages to automate activities.
• Demonstrated experience IAC (Terraform) and Cisco ACI.
• Good understanding of IT infrastructure and Service Management practices.
• Knowledge or willingness to learn: Network management tools such as Cisco DNA Centre, Statseeker and Infoblox.
• Knowledge of Cisco SD-WAN technologies is desirable.
