Job summary

Queensland South Native Title Services (QSNTS) is seeking a Litigation Specialist to provide expert litigation, advocacy and legal practice support across the Legal Division, focusing on client-led outcomes. Reporting to the Principal Lawyer, you will represent QSNTS in litigation, draft submissions and advise on complex matters across native title issues.

Qualifications

Admitted legal practitioner with a current Queensland Practising Certificate.
Minimum 5 years post-admission experience in litigation/native title.
Experience in the Federal Court and drafting court documents.
Strong knowledge of native title, cultural heritage, corporations, contract and property law.

Responsibilities

Provide specialist litigation support and strategic advice to Lead Solicitors on complex matters and proceedings.
Support litigation at all stages — evidence, research, drafting court documents, submissions and briefing Counsel.
Prepare and review complex pleadings, affidavits and submissions.
Advocate for clients through written submissions, negotiations and representation at meetings, mediations and stakeholder forums.
Lead development of litigation methodologies, precedents and practice resources, and identify systemic legal risks.
Mentor and build the capability of Lawyers, Junior Lawyers and Paralegals, including backfilling roles to maintain continuity of service.
