Job summary

CSL Behring is seeking a Senior Scientist – Mass Spectrometry (MS) to lead development and implementation of MS-based analytical methods for biomolecule characterisation at its Melbourne HQ. The role includes planning and executing MS‑based studies to profile product and process-related variants and impurities, while coordinating with cross-functional teams across TechOps and global research.

Strong data integrity and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree (preferably PhD, MSc or equivalent) and/or experience in a relevant discipline.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine industry-standard product characterisation workflows for recombinant and plasma-derived biotherapeutics.
• Employ MS-based and non-MS techniques to identify and correlate PTMs and heterogeneities in recombinant proteins.
• Maintain and operate mass spectrometry instruments in the core lab.
• Plan, perform, evaluate and report scientific experiments with high integrity.
• Present results to internal and external stakeholders and explain complex information clearly.
• Collaborate across IPTs, TechOps, and other stakeholders.
• Provide leadership and MS expertise to team members.
• Ensure data integrity aligning with ELN, Veeva and structured data standards.
