Job summary

Platinum Blasting Services in Australia is seeking an experienced MPU Operator to load, transport and pump explosives using mobile mixing units. You will report to the Shift Supervisor and work with the crew to keep operations on track in a safety-first environment.

We offer a permanent role with a 7:7 roster, local camp accommodation and flexible travel options (FIFO out of Rockhampton or Townsville, DIDO or BIBO).

Qualifications

• Experience operating MPU/MMU or similar in open cut mining.
• Must have Statement of Attainment MPU Operations RIIBLA203E.
• QLD Explosives Security Clearance or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Operate MPU trucks to manufacture and deliver bulk explosives.
• Keep accurate records and report issues to the Shift Supervisor.
• Perform pre-start checks and assist with maintenance
• Follow safety, environmental and compliance requirements
• Support the team to meet daily targets

The Role

As an experienced MPU Operator, you’ll be hands on with our mobile mixing units by safely loading, transporting and pumping to deliver precise blasting outcomes. You’ll report to the Shift Supervisor and work closely with the rest of the crew to keep operations on track using advanced equipment in a safety-first environment.

What You’ll Do

• Operating MPU trucks safely to manufacture and deliver bulk explosives to blast holes
• Track and maintain accurate records and proactively report any issues to the Shift Supervisor
• Carry out pre-start checks and support preventative maintenance on equipment
• Following all safety, environmental, and compliance requirements
• Support the wider team to achieve daily targets

What You’ll Need

Must-haves:

• Right to work in Australia without restriction
• Previous experience operating MPU/MMU or similar equipment in an open cut mining environment
• Statement of Attainment for MPU Operating e.g. RIIBLA203E – Conduct Mobile Mixing of Explosives
• Standard 11 (or willingness to obtain)
• QLD Explosives Security Clearance Card (or ability to obtain)
• Able to pass pre-employment checks including medical, drug and alcohol and background checks

Nice to Have:

• Relevant RII to operate a Heavy Rigid Vehicle – RIIVEH307F
