Job summary

TSS Group is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer for a Western Australian iron ore operation. The role supports Quarry Manager (QM) and Site Senior Executive (SSE) responsibilities, with a practical, field-focused approach and close collaboration with site teams.

You will oversee open-pit mining, planning, scheduling and performance, ensuring safety, compliance and continuous improvement across production targets. FIFO from Perth on an 8:6 roster is offered.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• WA statutory qualifications and eligibility to undertake QM and SSE appointments.
• Experience in open-pit mining operations, ideally iron ore.
• Understanding of WA mining legislation and statutory obligations.
• Strong mine planning and operational engineering capability.
• Experience managing mining contractors.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer with the capability and statutory qualifications to undertake Quarry Manager (QM) and Site Senior Executive (SSE) responsibilities at an established Western Australian iron ore operation.

The operation is entering its next phase of development, with a focus on increasing production, operational efficiency and the safe execution of mining activities.

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical mining engineering capability with a practical, site-focused approach. You'll need to be comfortable working closely with operational teams, making decisions and taking ownership of outcomes.

The Role

Provide mining engineering expertise across day-to-day open-pit operations.

Fulfil Quarry Manager and Site Senior Executive responsibilities as required.

Oversee mine planning, scheduling and execution against production targets.

Work closely with mining contractors and site leadership to maintain safe, productive operations.

Monitor mining performance, identify constraints and implement practical improvements.

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, mine plans and operational procedures.

Contribute to ongoing mine development, operational readiness and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.

Demonstrated experience in open-pit mining operations, ideally within iron ore.
