Job summary

K92 Mining Limited based in Brisbane invites a Senior Mining Engineer to lead underground LOM planning and studies. The role provides critical support to feasibility and pre-feasibility work as the company expands toward higher output.

You will contribute to mine planning, budgeting, and technical assessments, working with project managers to deliver reliable plans and cost estimates, including merger/acquisition analyses.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified with 4+ years of experience in mine engineering and mine planning.
• Experience contributing to long-term planning, life of mine planning and/or feasibility studies.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Senior Mining Engineer | Brisbane Based | Underground LOM Planning & Studies

K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. More importantly, we have contributed significantly to the economy of Papua New Guinea, more than 90% of our employees and contractors are from PNG and our local education and skills development initiatives which include scholarships, traineeships and adult literacy programs continue to bring significant benefit the communities in which we operate.

We are now transforming the operation with a new 1.2 mtpa process plant as well as extensive construction and expansion across site that will see us triple the output from our mine by 2027. About the role

The purpose of this role is to provide support to the group mine planning and scheduling activities, contribute to mining feasibility and pre-feasibility studies and support the company’s expansion through the analysis of merger and acquisition targets.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Support the Kainantu Mine stage 3 expansion project through a peer review process and auditing.


• Contribute to mine planning and scheduling systems, including regular annual / life of mine plans, and budgeting.


• Collect summarize and report on key mining date and help develop a basis for engineering parameters which form the foundation of forward-looking mining plans and schedules.


• Contribute to mine technical efforts to support the mine operations team and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.


• Contribute to feasibility studies and mine planning projects from start to finish, including scoping, design, cost estimation, and implementation.


• Work closely with project managers to support and contribute to project reports, including financial projections, project risks, and mitigation strategies.


• Provide technical support to the mine operations team and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.


• Help develop technical and financial data to support the growth of the company through mergers and acquisitions.

About You

Ideal applicants will be degree qualified and have 4+ years of experience in mine engineering and mine planning with a proven track record of successfully contributing to long term planning, life of mine planning and/or feasibility studies. In addition to this, applicants should also be able to demonstrate some or all of the following

• Good technical knowledge of mining engineering, geology, and mineral processing


• Understanding of long hole open stoping mining.


• Experience in cost forecasting methodologies, including first principal build-up of unit costs, budgeting, economic evaluation, and optimization.


• Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a highly organized work method, and keen attention to detail.


• Proficiency in mining-specific software, such as Deswik, Surpac, and Ventsim, along with proficiency in Excel.


• Exposure to document control systems and procedures to ensure organization of reports and drawings.
