Job summary

Northern Star Resources seeks a Senior Mining Engineer for its underground Mt Charlotte operation in Kalgoorlie. You will lead a technical team including scheduling, drill and blast and graduate engineers to drive safe production from the underground workforce.

The role involves coordinating plan execution, stope reconciliation, and vibration monitoring compliance, with exposure to Modified Avoca, Sub Level Open Stoping and other methods as the asset grows.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years UG hard rock mining experience.
• Experience using Deswik CAD, UGDB and Scheduler packages.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate drill & blast and ancillary designs for the mining engineers in line with the weekly plan.
• Provide guidance and coaching to the Scheduling Engineers.
• Be the main point of contact to the Underground Mine Foreman for planning and executing the weekly plan and holding the technical team accountable.
• Responsible for managing stope reconciliation, highlighting areas of risk and opportunities.
• Ensure blast vibration monitoring, recording, and reporting is compliant with site and statutory requirements.
• Support the Underground Manager in facilitating DEMIRS visits, inspections, and investigations.
• Cover Alternate Underground Manager functionality as required and provide statutory guidance to the operation.

Job description

• 8/6 Residential roster | 12 hour Days
• Quarterly STI bonus per annum, subject to performance + Premium Private Health Insurance
• This role can either be Kalgoorlie residential or FIFO for the ideal candidate

We are seeking a strong Senior Mining Engineer to join our underground team at the historic Mt Charlotte Underground mine located at KCGM, Kalgoorlie.

This challenging and dynamic role will enable an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead a technical team of scheduling, drill and blast and graduate engineers, driving safe production from the operational team. Northern Star Resources has breathed life back into Mt Charlotte increasing the reserve base to over 1M ounces. There are multiple mining methods, Modified Avoca, Narrow Vein Open Stoping, Bulk Open Stoping and Sub level caving to sink your teeth into. The asset is continuing to grow which is the ideal time for a candidate to join who also wants to grow their career.

What you can look forward to:

• Cover Alternate Underground Manager functionality as required and utilise knowledge to provide statutory guidance to the operation.

Where you'll add value:

• Minimum of 5 years UG hard rock mining experience.
• Experience using Deswik CAD, UGDB and Scheduler packages.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

• Experience working with a mining contractor.
• Experience in a mine that utilises Sub Level Caving,
• Modified Avoca or Sub Level Open Stoping.
• Underground Mine Rescue Experience. Experience using Power BI.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• Current Unencumbered Western Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence.
• Completion of underground time required to obtain the First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.
• First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency will be an added advantage.
