Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related subject.
• Significant experience in open-cut mining engineering, preferably coal.
• Expertise in mine planning, scheduling, drill and blast design and operational support.
• Experience leading and mentoring technical professionals in a mining environment.
• Strong understanding of mining legislation, safety systems and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist engineering expertise across short-term mine planning, drill and blast, and operational design activities.
• Lead a team of Mining Engineers, Drill and Blast Engineers, Graduates and Technical Officers with technical direction and coaching.
• Ensure work aligns with operational priorities and business objectives.

About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Mining Engineer to join us at our Boggabri mine, an open-cut coal operation producing more than 7 million tonnes per annum, and with a mine life extending through until 2036. Boggabri mine is located near Boggabri, Gunnedah and Narrabri, regional towns which offer community spirit and a unique and diverse country lifestyle.

The Senior Mining Engineer provides specialist engineering expertise across short-term mine planning, drill and blast, and operational design activities to support safe and efficient coal mining operations. The role leads a team of Mining Engineers, Drill and Blast Engineers, Graduates and Technical Officers, providing technical direction, coaching and day-to-day leadership while ensuring work is aligned with operational priorities and business objectives.
