Job description

The Central Tanami Project Joint Venture (CTPJV) - a 50:50 partnership between ASX‑listed Tanami Gold NL and MGX Resources Limited - is entering an exciting new phase of growth. With plans progressing to develop the Groundrush Underground Gold Deposit and the Jims Open Pit, this is a rare opportunity to join a project as it moves from preparation into construction and restart.

CTPJV is supported by substantial existing infrastructure, including a processing facility on care and maintenance, established haul roads, bore field, gravel airstrip, and an accommodation village. Planning for mill replacement and infrastructure upgrades is well advanced, positioning the site for an efficient and accelerated restart.

We are about to commence an exploration decline and major surface drilling programs to strengthen our resources and mine plan, alongside significant investment in site infrastructure, camp upgrades, and operational systems. This is a hands‑on construction and start‑up environment, ideal for people who thrive on challenge and enjoy building something from the ground up.

About the role

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Senior Mine Planning Engineer will lead the development of integrated open pit and underground mine plans, delivering optimised designs, schedules and cost estimates to support studies and future operations.

Based in our West Perth office (5 days on /2 days off), this role plays a critical part in progressing the project through scoping, feasibility and into execution, while coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and managing external consultants.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead long-term mine planning across scoping, PFS and FS stages
  • Deliver open pit and underground optimisations, designs and Life of Mine (LOM) schedules
  • Integrate geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological and operational inputs into practical mine plans
  • Support exploration decline planning, including layouts, schedules and budgets
  • Develop mining infrastructure concepts (ventilation, dewatering, power, haulage, backfill)
  • Prepare capital and operating cost estimates and contribute to economic evaluations
  • Support resource-to-reserve conversion and ore reserve reporting
  • Manage consultants and technical studies to ensure quality, timeliness and budget alignment
  • Contribute to approvals, permitting and closure planning processes

You’re comfortable taking ownership, engaging stakeholders, and driving outcomes in a fast-paced and evolving project environment.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
  • Substantial experience in open pit and underground metalliferous mining
  • Strong expertise in mine planning, including optimisation, design and scheduling
  • Experience contributing to feasibility studies or project development activities
  • Demonstrated ability to design and plan mining infrastructure requirements
  • Proficiency in Deswik (or similar mine planning software suite)
  • Strong understanding of mining methods, geotechnical constraints and operational considerations
  • Experience managing consultants and coordinating technical inputs
