Job summary

The Firm, an established multi-practice firm, is seeking a Senior Migration Lawyer to join its specialist migration team in Australia. The role spans private and corporate migration, with exposure to employer-sponsored and skilled visas, complex refusals, cancellations, review matters and judicial proceedings.

You will own your files, work directly with clients, and continue developing technically with senior lawyers available for guidance.

Senior Migration Lawyer | Corporate + Complex Migration

We are working with an established multi-practice firm looking to add an experienced Senior Migration Lawyer to its specialist migration team.

The work spans both private and corporate migration, with exposure to everything from employer-sponsored and skilled migration through to complex refusals, cancellations, review matters and judicial proceedings.

This is a role where you can take ownership of your files, work directly with clients and continue developing technically without being boxed into one stream of migration work.

The Work:

The team advises across:

• Corporate migration and global mobility
• Employer-sponsored visas
• Skilled migration
• Business and investor migration
• Family and partner visas
• Permanent residency pathways
• Visa refusals and cancellations
• Character and health-related matters
• Judicial review in the Federal Circuit and Family Court

The practice also works with corporate clients across a range of industries and larger enterprise environments.

If you already have corporate migration experience, there is scope to build on it.

If your background sits more heavily in private migration or complex matters, the team has the capability to support you in broadening your practice.

About You:

You will already have solid experience practising in Australian migration law and be comfortable managing matters independently.

You may currently be working as a Senior Lawyer, Senior Associate or at a similar level, or be an experienced migration lawyer ready to step into a broader senior role.

You will ideally bring:

• Sound knowledge of migration legislation, policy and procedure
• Confidence managing files and advising clients directly
• Strong drafting and written advocacy skills
• The ability to identify legal and strategic issues early
• Strong attention to detail
• A practical and commercially minded approach
• Confidence building relationships with private and corporate clients
• Experience across corporate migration, employer sponsorship, complex refusals, ART matters or judicial review will be particularly valuable, but you do not need experience across every area. The team has enough breadth to build on the strengths you already bring while giving you exposure to areas you want to develop further.
