Job summary

Lycopodium is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Piping Designer to join the Perth team. Reporting to the Design Coordinator, you’ll deliver piping design support, plant layouts, and ensure adherence to Australian and international standards.

With 6+ years in design and piping in mineral processing environments, you’ll collaborate with clients and vendors, lead design teams, and help optimise project delivery. Travel may be required to suit project needs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in design and drafting within mining or processing industries.
• Piping design experience in mineral processing plants.
• Experience with OpenPlant, Modeller and PID.
• Advantageous: experience in gold, base metals and iron ore.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional support to the piping design team for project deliverables.
• Ensure project schedules and man-hour budgets are met for assigned work.
• Produce plant layouts from preliminary data and design information.
• Review vendor drawings and design data for compliance.
• Disseminate project design data to team members efficiently.

Due to the Company’s involvement in a number of new projects and studies, we are currently recruiting for experienced Senior Mechanical/ Piping Designers to join our Perth based team.

Reporting to the Design Coordinator, this position will involve but not be limited to the following responsibilities:

• Provide professional support to the piping design team in the preparation of project deliverables.
• Ensuring project schedules and man-hour budgets are met for areas of assigned work.
• Demonstrate a sound understanding of fabrication and construction techniques in the materials handling industry.
• Producing Company and industry standard models and design drawings from the design engineer calculations and sketches.
• Follow and implement all relevant Company standards and procedures and ensure design drawings comply with all relevant Australian and International Standards.
• Produce plant layouts from preliminary project data and design information.
• Register and file all relevant project documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures.
• Review of vendor drawings and design data.
• Ensure project design data of work is disseminated to other project team members in an efficient and timely manner.
• Work in conjunction with a range of internal and external stakeholders to meet project design work criteria and deliverables.
• Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Project deliverables are met.
• Suggest methods to improve operational efficiency.
• Ensure a high level of communication is attained within the design team.
• Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the design team as required.
• Travel on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.

The expertise you'll bring

• 6+ years’ experience in Design/Drafting with relevant industry experience.
• Piping design experience in mineral processing plants
• Experience in OpenPlant, Modeller and PID
• Experience in gold, base metals and iron ore is advantageous
• Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including Clients, vendors and co-workers
• Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge across a broad range of disciplines
• Proven time management and organisational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
